To further safeguard our HCW, the IPC team also worked
closely with NIOSH to test the penetration filtration
rate of the donated N95/KN95 masks to ensure they
are within the accepted standard before distribution
to the healthcare facilities. Collaboration with Malaysia
Nuclear Agency and NIOSH also led to the successful
development of the UVGI machine for the reprocessing of
N95 respirators as a preparatory measure in anticipation
of acute shortage of respirators. Nonetheless, with proper
strategies on ensuring adequate supply in place, this
scenario never came to path.
