The policies to protect healthcare workers are grounded on two main strategies:
i. Hazard Identification
Hazard identification is done through screening (symptoms and temperature)
of employees entering the workplace. MOH uses the risk assessment and
e-surveillance system to monitor symptoms among healthcare workers
ii. Implementing infection control measures. For that, new norms were enforced,
including
• Physical distancing at working place whenever practical
• Maintaining the assumption that everyone including ourselves is an
asymptomatic carrier
• Avoid handshake, and wear a facemask at all the times, practicing right
cough and sneeze etiquette and using alcohol-based hand sanitisers
• Avoid crowding around counters/lifts/meeting rooms and enclosed
areas
• Conducting virtual communications and implementing telework if
feasible in place of face-to-face meetings
• No crowding in pantry especially during lunch and coffee time
• No parties allowed for farewell/birthday and celebration
• Minimizing contact among workers, clients, and customers
• Removing shared prayers mats and telekong from the prayer rooms
• Limit nonessential travel.
