Spearheading strategies and plan of action
Management of facility is a dynamic process. It was therefore important that
monitoring was done on daily basis and plan of action were customised to the
current situation. To guide this, the Medical Development Division developed a
few monitoring tools apart form the newly developed ICT platform, CPRC Hospital
System.
COVID-19 Hospital Capacity Index was developed to guide the Medical Programme
to assess level of preparedness of each of COVID-19 hospital based on several
parameters including number of allocated beds and utilisation rate. Based on the
level of preparedness, several strategies were employed including establishment of
field and makeshift hospital, PKRC, diversion of new admissions, decanting of non-
Covid cases and outsourcing to private hospitals. Hospital Reconstitution Index was
developed to help to decide which hospital could reduce or release their COVID-19
beds when cases started to decrease after the second wave.
Situational analyses were made on regular basis and presented to National CPRC
and CPRC Hospital Services which has led to implementation of various strategies
and plan of action such as Tawau Field Hospital, Makeshift Hospital Penjara Pokok
Sena and Central Region COVID-19 Unified Command Centre.
